I've just connected a Iomega Prestige External HD 3TB USB3 to my Asus P8 Z68-v Gen3 Mobo and the transfer speeds don't seem impressive.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I've got a 10.9 GB file on a Sharkroon eSata caddy and I've copied the file to the following devices as a comparison:

Crucial M4 64GB on SATA 3 (Win7 64bit Home Prem boot disk), the time was 2 min 11.27 sec Transfer speed 87 MB/s
WD 500GB on SATA 2, the time was 2 min 18.23 sec Transfer speed 83.2 MB/s
Iomega on USB3, the time was 2 min 25.19 sec Transfer speed 83 MB/s

I've installed the USB3 drivers and even installed and enabled the USB3 Boost software, mentioned here http://event.asus.com/mb/2010/The_Best_USB3_Experience/The_UASP_For_USB3.0.htm

Also here's a screen grab from HD Tune Pro 4.50

Thank you.

i dont think your expecing too much from USB 3, i think you are expecting too much from the 3tb drive and also that sharkoon adapter

3tb drives are for storage, so they WILL be slower than an ssd

the sharkoon has got a controller chip which is BY FAR the most limiting bottleneck in the transfer

i bought one of those silly docks and it started smoking (!) after about 15gb of transfers :p

OK, thank you for your advice. I'll continue to transfer my files across to it.

The Sharkroon I have is version 1 (I think) of this http://www.sharkoon.com/?q=en/content/sata-quickport-duo-v2
But, instead of having just 1 eSata and a USB2 connection, it has 2 eSata's and a USB2 connection.
