Am I just being stupid? GCSE Maths help!

thanks for asking. Errr.. it wasn't easy :P. Most people came out with the same feelings as me, challenging springs to mind
Aye, i did the Higher paper and found it alright for the main part of it, but the last few questions were obscene

Yeah might have been same exam I had.. found every question easier than what I've been doing as the practice papers (the circle theorems thing was stupidly simple in this paper..).. then the very last page I had no idea about :p

And I ignored one of the algebra ones for 2marks as it would take me too long (something about make (a) the subject of this equation and it was an a/a type fraction). Not worth the time for the 2 marks.

Geography was stupidly simple also. Too easy which is annoying as it meant there wasn't anywhere you could be in depth.. For our sections we did we couldn't really use case studies unless trying really hard (eg: A location of a wave cut notch etc :P)

Couldn't even do one for flooding as it was for that area specifically.

luckily everyone else had similar feelings to me for both :)

Yea, was that the one on the second to last page? It went something like:

(a²-n²)-(a-n)²

Make a the subject of the equation.

I did intermediate paper I was going to do higher but im just too dumb :p
Geography I did higher and couldnt really understand what I was supposed to write.

Is there such a thing as a Wave cut notch? :p

I was intermediate *Slowly drags self away as am not worthy*. The was a question on similar triangles you can't do without a triangle. I think the scale factor was 1.5 though

Yeay!

I was finished within half an hour, how long did it take you?

Longer than half an hour loL. I spent the whole 2 hours on in. I didn't get:

Question 23: About 20% wages
24: similar triangles (I think the scale factor was 1.5 but I'm not sure)

2 hours? We only had 1 hour 15 minutes

Nah that one was easy and it was just cancel it down so that it's worked out fully.

The one I'm talking about was halfway through in a group of "solve the/factorise" etc ones.

something like

3xa^2
16=_____
2x^2a
Make a the subject/

*this is a completely made up example which I'm guessing isn't solvable)

I did Higher WJEC so it's probably very different to your exams.

The hardest question for me was:

15x^2-19x-10=0

I can't remember what I wrote down, but I wrote down a lot. My mind was a blank because I totally forgot how to attempt those kind of questions.

I know it's to do with factor, product and sum but I couldn't narrow the answer down as I was using trial and error.

Anyone got a clue ?

Yeah I also did the Higher Tier paper.. but my exam board is OCR..

Some of the questions near the end were damn hard.. suppose the last few questions sort the men from the boys!

;)

cbf to work it out, but you do this:

(?x -+ ?) (?x -+ ?) = 0
then you just substitute x with a value that would make that braket equal 0 so that you get the result as 0 and do this for both brackets and you'll get both possible values of x.

I'm on edexcel higher.

Yes! I don't know why the hell I remember this but it does exist!

I've no idea what exactly it is, though :p

Base of a cliff where the wave erodes up to the high water mark. Gives a cut into the base of the cliff, which eventually collapses due to lack of support and at the bottom is the wave cut platform which is just flat rock and this is littered with the debris from the collapsed cliff.

Ballistic: Non calculator paper.
