Am i just unlucky with Apple stuff

I've only ever owned a ipod touch which i got just before xmas which had a dead pixel right in the centre of the screen which they changed for a new one and then yesterday my second ipod touch broke, won't turn on just has a blank screen, plugged it into my pc and not a thing it's as dead as a dodo :(
 
I am sure there is a manual reset for these things. Have you tried that?

Does the PC even see a device plugged in?
 
PC didn't see the device but just phoned apple and after a few button clicks it came back to life
 
My iPhone 4 has done that before... scared me half to death...

However a lil searching of button combinations and it was sorted :)
 
Hold the home button and lock for a soft reboot. This happened to my iPhone the other night. Some form of bug within the OS I'm led to believe causing it to not respond if too many multitask apps are in memory on the multitask bar. My bud in an apple store told me quite a few people have been in with this issue.
