I've just ordered a Samsung Galaxy S II i9100 from Phones4u on a 12 month Vodafone Tariff @ £36 p/month.

The phone I'm upgrading from is the Galaxy S i9000 which I've had for near 18 months.

Question is, is the upgrade worthwhile?

I know it's considered insanity for using Phones4u, but it was the best price on the 12 month deal, other stores want a deposit for the handset but these guys offered it for free.

Have any of you had issue using their site for online ordering? Or is it a smooth process? My credit check doesn't appear to be confirmed as of yet...the live chat agent said it'd be emailed to me whether it be accepted or denied.

Read you post now lol

12 month contracts are hard to find so its not a bad deal. i don't think many ask you to pay a bit for the s2 because there not that expensive now

how many mins and text and data do you get for that

You could be better off getting the phone for 300 on the bay and getting a giffgaff sim card

It works out as £432 over 12 months

Phone @ £300 and 12x months of £10 giffgaff = £420 so it's all the same over a 12 month duration.

I'd be getting 300 mins, 3000 texts and 500mb data a month.

If I wanted the £36 a month tariff over 12 months direct from Vodafone they required £99.99 for the handset, mobiles.co.uk have it listed as £209.99 on that tariff

Thanks man for the heads up.
My contract was due this month and now I'll get a new shiny phone!

£432 - £50 TCB If it tracks.

That's not bad then.

If your like me 500 mb is not enough. Download wifi watch dog so you keep a eye on what your using and use wifi when you can

I bought my sgs1 nearly 14 months ago for 180 and it was brand new. (guys wife didn't want it) and being on giffgaff saved me a fortune. Had to buy the boltons from o2 and was costing me a fortune

I agree about 500mb being not enough but work got free wifi, also got an BT openzone account I can't see me using the 3g a lot apart from tethering or GPS here and there.

I've been fine with 500mb over the past 18 months :p

I only use the web during 1 hour lunch breaks anyway, and wifi at home should I need to.

The only hotspots I seem to find local to me all have wep keys and the like :(

Right so you've upgraded your i9000 to an i9100 on a pretty decent looking contract? Why should we think you're mad?

I'm thinking about grabbing this deal either tonight or in the store. Would I be better just going in and dealing with them in person?

Make sure you ask for £50 cashback otherwise just do it online since mine is already tracking at £50 cashback! takes 90 days before you can take it though.

Good shout. Is that through quidco? I'm seeing £55 for androind contract of £50 for any contract. Should be able to get £55 no? I don't put much faith in quidco tbh. Still waiting on cashback from an Apple purchase last year.

Going to order this tonight. Do they deliver on a saturday?

Never really used Quidco but got a very good success rate with topcashback, my old desire also tracked at £50. Quidco also takes a fee from your earning every year? < not sure on this.

Yeah they take £5 a year. Meh.. I'll try through quidco as I can't be bothered signing up to another cashback website. I'll get the money :p £50 is certainly worth pestering them for.

makes the total contract cost about £380 for 12 months, 300 mins, 3k texts and 500MB data. Not too shabby!

This will be my first smartphone :D

The SGS I currently have is probably bog standard compared to thie SGS2.

Is the screen much better on the SGS2? In respect to image quality and colours? I know it's slightly bigger...
