got in the post today
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT12864AA1065)

tried it in my first pc as per my sig and got naff all no booting nothing.

tried it then in my spare pc which is e6300 and a p5b mobo same result.

surely cant be an out of box faliure again please not again.....or am i doing something stupid?????????????

No booting as in no power to the fans etc or no booting as in no BIOS?

did you reset the bios before trying them?

Voltage set to 2.2v

for some reason i had to flash update my bois and then it worked on the asus p5b thats where they will stay for a while untill i get rid of my naff amd rig

Bios flash for memory

Stupid question, but if you have no other working DDR2 memory, and the stuff you have got requires a bios update, what is the mechanism to do this?

Only asking as this will be my possible scenario when I finally spend some money to get away from socket 939.

It's wise to have a spare stick of RAM kicking around. Just something like 256mb of pc2-4200 incase you ever need it. It can be picked up for peanuts these days.
