The 590 is 100 quid more expensive and yet its slower than the 6990 thats cheaper and has more ram?

Am I being a noob or have I missed something?

I think that's pretty much it, performance is close but yeah the 6990 does edge it. The 590 is quieter but has the usual nVidia higher cost.

Yep, nv cards always seem to be very expensive, thankfully i never buy on release. Get a single mid range card then add another later.

you havent missed anything. its slower, more expensive and it blows up sometimes :P
but i would still buy it instead of 6990 just for 3D Vision.

i always saw it like this, and this is why i would pay extra for an nvidia card. People that buy these cards want to play games with every possible feature enabled. Physx is nvidia exclusive, so nvidia can do/charge what they want.

Plus 6990 is larger and that makes it look more impressive and a true king. Amd have atleast done something better with 6990 given that 6950 and 6970 got beaten by 570 and 580.

Gotta love the fanboys.

Just watched the review from LinusTechTips and it seems the GTX590 excels in some games whereas the HD6990 excels in others. Or is he wrong?

after owning the 9800 GX2, 3870X2, 4870X2 and the 5970 i've had enough of owning dual GPU cards  bugs, inconsistent FPS, power issues, heat issues...no more :(
