Am i overworking my poor psu?

Are you monitoring the "Core temps" in HW monitor? Because they'd be wrong, and 40c is likely your chip being at 60+ and throttling.

Under WC mine was hitting 59c at 4375MHZ, and I had a cherry picked chip...

wait so do i go by motherboard readings? XD i was told ages ago that you should go by core temps?

Wooopsy XD just realised how close i have been pushing my cpu to its max safe temp - think i will wait till i ditch air cooling and can afford water before i continue overclocking - am gonna leave cpu at a stead 4.1Ghz - P95 stable and under full load after an hour 50C - cant afford to replace this little guy so i think i'll give it some breathing room, cheers for letting me realise that martini :)

martini - here is a screeny of hw monitor after 20 minutes p95 blend in 24C ambient @ 4ghz

Looking at the link below a test system running a 6950 pulls 308w with Furmark and thats probably with a overcloked i7 system.

Around 450w tops as mentioned pretty much above.

Really? :o i thought my max draw would be close on 600? considering the overclocks on everything as well + 5 mechanical harddrives im currently using XD

My system is my sig has watercooling, 3 hard drives and this pulls 500w from the mains with Prime and FurMark running.
When I had my 480 this was 615w and 2 x 5850 it was 430w.
