I am running an ABIT NF7-S V2 with the 2500 Barton cpu. Basically is it time to upgrade, or do these still have a life. Especially as i am getting into digital photography and photoshop.

Comments and advice please

Thanks

Are you having problems with current compter doing what you want?

Are you getting frustrated with the time it takes to complete a task?

Are games jerking and jumping like crazy making them unplayable?

Do you like having the latest thing for the sake of it?

Do you have money to burn and waste on a new computer?

if the answer is "YES" to any of those then hey , build a new computer ;)

You would get a pretty darn large boost even with an E6300 CPU power wise, you've done well to last with the Barton as long as you have :p

Whether it'd be worth it for what you do depends how hard your pushing it now, if your happy with the speed and only have say 512MB of memory, getting an extra 512MB of RAM might be enough keep you happy....

I have got 1gb RAM so thats not really feasible. It just feels to be slowing a little. I may try overclocking it, as it has just run at standard set up speeds from day 1. Also about to do a format of my C drive and re-install windows, as i do find that helps, (18 months since last installation)

Thanks

Well that will certainly make a big difference.

I like to get the most out of my sytem and overclock it as much as possible and only upgrade when I know Im in bad need for an upgrade.

Well i have just done pretty much the same thing as your talking about. Oh an my god the boostn in performance is amazing, no need ot benchmark you just feel it.

If you have some spare cash go for it.
