Average OcUK thread goes like this...

  • Thread gets posted
  • Someone makes a point
  • Someone makes a opposing statement
  • Someone agrees with the point
  • Person who makes opposing statement adds to his statement
  • The two people, person a who made the point and person b who agreed talk amongst themselves
  • Person who made opposing statement continues to talk to themselves
  • Thread stagnates

I'm getting a little fed up with it.

To be honest, I think you'll find that's how almost any thread on any forum will end up. Or in fact even debate/conversation in real life...

You've been here for over 3 years, amassed a postcount over 9000 and you're only now a little fed up?

That happens but even when they do engage, the second they make a point thats hard to counter the conversation devolves into semantics where people focus on ridiculous details of language such as grammar nazi-ing or taking taking things overly literally.

Nobody here, including myself, even actually backs up their points either. We all use factoids we hear and have accepted as true because they match with our wold view.

We all deny alternative view points are valid even when talking about complicated subjects we know we don't completely understand.

Basically we're all stupid and are play debating. Truth be told thats how a lot of proper debates are done too.

Don't let the door hit you etc

Are we at stage 4 now?

We're ad Defcon 4, Yikes where am I going to get petrol for the car and water from? Where should I build the shelter..

Whoops... Thought I may as well add the "I've mis-read the post thread now"..:)

Can I do my own angry indigent reply, or let someone else do it?

It's isn't compulsory to read or even reply to every thread. Like most forums some threads have a interest for you others don't.
