Hey guys im a customer of BT and have a BT wireless router, but where I am located BT can only give me 1.5Mbit download speeds :( and a pitiful upload speed

This seems to be the case with most other ISP's I have checked with, because i am so far from an "exchange"

So am I doomed to have this slow ass connection speed or are there other options out there?

Thanks :)

Have tried running a test off the master or test socket? You maybe losing some speed due to your internal cabling.

LLU Exchange?
Cable ?
At Master socket / test socket?
Ruled out internal cabling ?
Tried a different router?

The online speed checker can be wrong at times.
Check once with tel number only, then try with postcode only any difference?

My line attenuation is about 59db on a >7KM line. Changing to LLU I was only getting 1.5Mbit/s until I changed a 5 year old Zyxel for a new Netgear DGN2000. Now I'm getting 2.8Mbit/s :D

Difference is night and day. I feel like I have a bonded connection of 2 lines!

So, to echo what others have said.

1) Plug router directly into telephone master socket (using an ADSL filter of course) and see what your line stats are like.
2) Use a different ISP. BT are something that sounds like "pit"
3) If you can get cable, then consider Virgin Media
