Am I supposed to leave my router on 24/7?

its not a problem, as long as you dont have default factory user/pass you ok. besides some people have their PC's on 24/7

Is there really any point, thats one of the main reasons of having a router to have a always on connection so when you turn on your computer you can browse the net right away.

I usually leave my router on 24/7

The only time that I would turn it off is in the summer months when there are thunderstorms around.

I would also unplug the router from the telephone socket just to be on the safe side.

My belkin is on 24/7. Had it replaced on warranty last year due to the power supply on the old one having been on constantly for 2 1/2 years though (it was deemed to be heat-damaged).

If we turn it off at the socket we have to give it 12 hours for the transformer to cool down, otherwise overheat protection seems to stop it working.
