In my opinion Crysis needs to be played totally maxed, I actually like the gameplay but its a game to be seen as its meant to be seen.

Mkaes you wonder how people like crytek manage to develop their games when no one can run the game properly after release :x

Infinity Ward...look at CoD 4..still an amazing graphical game after a year, and runs great on all systems

CoD 4 is a great game but you can see why it runs so well:

The thing about Crysis is that no corners are cut, its fully rendered stuff as far as the eye can see. That's why I always stick up for it.

As if the consoles where running the games at the res of 1680x1050 & 1920x1200 with the levels of AA & AFS that most play at then i think that the OP's views on a console would drastically change as to see how poorly the consoles would cope.

It's a lot to pay to run the game, but my 4870X2 can pump out enough FPS to make it nicely playable at 1920x1200, 4xAA. The other more modern cards deal with it pretty well at lower resolutions.

Game developers can't win really; either they produce graphics that are too advanced, or graphics that aren't advanced enough. Quit your whining.

To be honest i have always played catch-up with PC games. PC gaming sure is relatively expensive compared to the consoles but worth every penny. Take for example COD 4, the vanilla maps in my opinion are not good. Way too small for my liking due to i think the memory limitations on the 360. COD for me comes into its own when you play on a modded server, where the maps are nice and big, and more ways of playing stealthy and sneaky.

Personally i found it sad when i heard that crytek were no longer going to be a pc-only games developer.

I can safely say that Far Cry on the hardest mode was the best single player FPS i have ever played and i loved crysis(until the crappy alien bit ofc).

why on earth would it annoy you? just dont play it on max, just because the setting is there and it is called max it doesnt mean you should want to or need to play it
