Hi folks,

My friend was lucky enough to be a beta tester for SC, but it has to be said, when I saw it, I was not impressed at all.

It is too much like DOW and seemed quite slow moving (not sure if that was adjustable in-game).

I am a C&C fan myself, and NOTHING, has come out since Generals/ZH that has been worthy of purchasing IMO, so I still play Generals/RA2 until C&C3 comes out, which hopefully, will blast the other games into oblivion!

Generals was really poor compared to previous C&C titles, and you really need to get hold of Total Annihilation if you think it's too much like Dawn Of War. ;)

LOVE generals, still play online now. Nice units, online games are still full of tension at times, with some pretty quick games, or ones that just drag on, and on. Still love it though.

Apart from cs:s, i havent played a game as much as that one!

Bring on c&c3 though...

I didn't like it either, just didn't feel right.
And I know its a beta I've been in plenty, so its nothing to do with that.

It was far too slow, units too slow to move, everything to suit someone who likes 3 hour games.

Never played TA, I think I played a demo way back when, but I don't like those games, the RTS I like are ALL the C&C games, every single one of them, they have something great about them, that no other game will ever have.

I was in the Generals beta, and that was awesome from day 1!

 The beta felt unfinished  Whatever next...

;)

Sounds like you don't know what beta means my friend :)

Alpha - a working game engine with the basics set out, features not fully implimented.

Beta - Every feature is being used but there may be many hardware/gameplay issues that still need addressing.

The Beta to me felt very much like an alpha. I was left simply wondering "Is this it?"

To all other people here who've commented on this.... are you crazy?? Generals was easily the worst C&C game ever made! (Apart from Renegade, but we don't speak of that ;) )

With regards to Supreme Commander, I enjoyed it, and loved TA, so reckon it could be good :)

Took me a while to get used to it and after a day or 2 playing i really liked it, i like the big maps tons of units and different areas for battle
Personally i didn't like Generals/ZH and doesn't even compared to SupCom
I will get in when it comes out and also looking forward to the C&C game i just hope its not like Generals

I'm a software engineer mate, I think I know what beta means ;) Beta means not complete. If it was complete, it wouldn't be beta anymore, would it.

Then why the clueless post :p

There's a huge difference between feature complete and game complete.

It didn't feel like it was feature complete hence felt like an awful beta.

I'm not getting, but I feel you calling my post clueless a little unjustified, so I'm going to say this last thing, and leave it at that.

The exact comment was "unfinished". A beta by definition is "unfinished". My post was not clueless. It was said in jest also, quite clearly I thought, so there was no need to get all defensive either.

If you wanted to clarify what you meant, fine, but don't try and make it look like I am stupid in doing so, thanks. End of, no hard feelings ;)

What's your point? You've just said exactly what he said in the first place - many hardware/gameplay issues (which lets face it, what sort of issues can a game have that aren't hardware or gameplay!?) need sorting out, thus making it unfinished...

As for the people comparing C&C to TA/SC, I don't think that's exactly fair. Yes, they're both strategy games, but TA/SC took it to the next level in making each battle last several hours - where-as the C&C series was aimed at the more casual RTS gamer.

best strategy game ever is Starcraft , simple as that :P
A lot of people say that... but I confess to never having played it :o I might have to see if I can find a copy. It would have to go someway to beat TA though... some way indeed ;)

I haven't played the beta of this - kinda avoided it so it wouldn't spoil the surprise of the full game - but I do hope these occasional bad reports/issues have been resolved for the full game... I'd hate the sequel to TA to be a turkey :(

Yeah me too, hopefully it'll be just as good as I remember TA.
