I'd rather have an Aston over a Ferrari, as Top Gear recently put it, its not quite as good as the Ferrari, but, you like it all the more for just that! (Or something like that!) That said, I could'nt say I don't actually like them! - Had you the money to be able to try one yourself, I doubt you'd disagree. ;)

Dunno about Lotus's......

I'm not much of a fan of the more recent Ferarri's, and would much rather have an Aston :) I don't really mind the current Lotus's though, the Exige looks cool :D

just the lotus' in general i mean my dads yard pulled in a classic elise with a V8 in the other day and it looked and sounded proper, but everyday a bright orange elise pulls up and i just think its absolutely fugly and my other collegues are practically drooling over it aswell.

also the BMW 6 series is just fugly an'all

 I don't really see how you can dislike Lotii en masse, after all an Esprit looks nothing like an Elise and nothing like an Elan. They don't really have a "look" at all

They don't do anything for me. But then again i'm not much of a car nut either.

it was a very old elise, (its got an elise badge on it) looked a lot more like a proper car to go fast than these tiny pieces of plastic you see going around

It can't be that old, they only came out in 1996!

No, in fact I can't see I've stated an opinion anywhere here about Lotus designs. Can you please quote where I said I liked them? ;)

Read my post - what I said was, how can you dislike the general "look" of them when every one looks quite different?

Perhaps if you squint and stand on your head ;)

They are a British car (ignoring the Proton ownership), like Aston, and that more than anything is why people buy them. Back in the day Lotus were pioneers in racing motorsport. They invented disc brakes and discovered the concept of "downforce".

I think its more down to the Elise having one of the finest chassis ever created, people dont care what country it comes from anymore.
