They are a British car (ignoring the Proton ownership), like Aston, and that more than anything is why people buy them. Back in the day Lotus were pioneers in racing motorsport. They invented disc brakes and discovered the concept of "downforce".

They have not been british since 1986.
When they were bought by General Motors.
And bought again in 1993 by Buggati.

They are by definition anything but british these days.
If you consider their first production car was 1956 odd, thats what, 40% of their life time in the hands of overseas companies?

Ferraris do nothing for me, neither does any of the current BMW range.

Lotus, however, make the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Awesome cars.

They are still made in Norfolk by British people. They are still very much a British car. It really doesn't matter who "owns" them. That's the way I see it anyway :)

We're still very much a British company funded with foreign money.

I must say, if I could only have one 'supercar' It would be the AMV8 Handsdown..

Why?
Prestige/class/heritage, it just appeals to me.

And as for Lotus, they are seriously going down in my estimation, with some of their recent efforts in setting up cars like the VXR Astra, they don't seem to be able to deliver the goods..

You can't polish a turd :p

You can't polish a turd

LOL... you would think so, apart from the fact that the OPC developed version has posted much improved Nurburgring times... they must have better turd polish!! it's been commented in several european track shootouts that the UK VXR isn't 'optimal'..
