Am I the only person that craves another syndicate wars style game?

would be great and simple to create in this day and age, maybe one day! someone start a website and lets gets some fans and hunt down the guys that made it!

Syndicate wars ruled, they should make another.
I can't wait for fallout 3. The end of this year is a good year for games.

Fallout 3
Spore
Huxley. I will need to upgrade by then though.

Hehehe whenever I use a sniper rifle in any game I still say in their voice

'LR Rifle'

I am informed its frustrating as i always say it whilst playing UT LAN teehee.

Man I miss that game!

there was a sequel to the original synd. i think it was called american somethin, revolution ?!?!

it had the hardest first level ever!! ... it was like it took off from the end of syndicate 1 in terms of difficulty

Syndicate was an awesome game, gave me a real buzz playing it....big shame they don't ' can't make em like that anymore.

I had syndicate wars and the original on the amiga but for some reason I decided to buy it for the mega drive. Such a dodgy version and it baffles me why I bought the game in the first game

I loved Syndicate and Syndicate Wars, had them both on the PC years ago. Excellent games! I really wish someone would do a remake.

In a 2006 interview at the Leipzig Games Convention for Gamespot, Peter Molyneux said that he would like to revisit some of his old efforts, but adds that it is very unlikely that will happen. But Molyneux makes one possible exception: "Aside from the licensing complications, some sort of next-gen online version of Syndicate would certainly be popular with gamers."

It was an expansion pack, American Revolt

I would love a new Syndicate. Wars was good too, but bring back the gritty, trench goat wearing, Blade Runer look of the original.

That was when expansions where really only for people who completed the original.

And to be quite honest people talking about playing these games on consoles should be permabanned as this was a mouse only game :p

I never got to play Syndicate Wars (wish I had), but can someone tell me if traces its roots back to the Laser Squad games on the old Speccy (and there was an even earlier game than Laser Squad whose name escapes me)?

Not really, it features squad command and weapon selection and things like that but it is a much more action-oriented game, as opposed to the turn-based strategy of LS. As a metaphor, I suppose SW would be like an arcadey RTS like C&C, compared to the hex-based wargame of LS.

It was like an advanced version of Cannon Fodder, but the comparison of C&C without building things is the closest. Your had a limit of Cyborg Agents (4 if I remember) who are kitted out with miniguns, flame-throwers, rocket launchers or even a long-range scanner. Most missions were assissinate this person, abduct 10 civilians, etc. But also you faced enemy syndicate agents who were also carrying miniguns and hyped up on enhancement implants. So it was a cross between rpg/rts with no building stuff.

Bit of a week old thread, but I'd aboslutely love this game to get a remake.

Syndicate was an absolutely fantastic game and I'd love for there to be another sequel :)
