Standard cooling,Asrock AnliveNF7G mobo. Not tried to go anymore just yet,i`ll try after i have some feedback if it`s a good `un or not :).

you could go higher, like 3.2ghz, lower the HT link a tad.
but its a good O.C imo my 4800+ crapped out at 2.9ghz

It's average. My old 4800+ went to 3.00GHz on a cheapo Gigabyte board. As Phatzy said, you need to lower the HT. Try 4x. Also, try a lower multi. 250 x 12 might get you 3.00GHz, plus it'll overclock your RAM (if it can handle it). With the AMD setup, my Ballistix DDR2-800 did 1000+ no sweat.

You could try putting some more voltage through the CPU if 3.00GHz isn't stable. I needed 1.4V set in BIOS for 3.00GHz. Unfortunately the chip flaked out any faster than this. Only other thing I'll suggest is getting a better CPU cooler. The Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro would be a fairly cheap, good option and also it might net you a few more MHz. The stock cooler is a bit rubbish, so keep an eye on temps.

if you lower the multiplier but raise the FSB how does that increase the chance of getting a better OC?

As the 1st step is taking you back some MHz

It overclocks memory more. Not vital, but worth it if you can get it. I noticed games ran a little smoother with very high memory bandwidth.

do you game? or do you edit stuff? at that O'C and the ram timings there is no need to buy some 800mhz ram. and again a excellent overclock buddy.
what are the temps like?

My 5000+ BE hits 3.55GHz, I run it a little lower daily because I can't tell the difference running 100-150Mhz less. ;)
