we know that AM2 and AM2+ are using 940 pins but the next new AM3 will using 938 pins instead of 940 - wonder any AMD change this for new CPU from 2009???

ii am not sure what your asking.

but the am3 cpus in 2009 are 938pins but tbh it doesn't really matter because they'll still work on a AM2+ boards.

amd removed pins from socket AM3 - the pins were no longer needed for DDR3 signaling. this provides an easy solution to preventing people sticking am2 cpu's into the am3 socket (am3 boards ONLY have DDR3, am2/am2+ ONLY have DDR2. AM2 cpu's ONLY have DDR2 controlers, AM3 cpu's have DDR2 AND DDR3 controlers) - since am3 cpu's are back compat but am2 are not forwards compatible
