Hi
Hope you can help, I'm looking to choose between 6000+ or 7850 black edition both will go on my biostar AM2+ MB but unsure which it should be. Currently have x2 4200+ which could do with an update. These seem be be my coises as i don't want to upgrade MB at the moment.
Thanks for any help you can give.

This seems to be the original CPU support list left as is since release date. I would not lose hope off the bat and check what 2009-11-03 bios revision offers in terms of updates. BioStar site was not really helpful in that respect, but I am sure a call ticket to their online support team can clear that one up. But it will be safe to say that this date can be considered a cut off point for CPU support on that board.

As for the original question, 7850BE will get my vote due to L3 cache, unlocked multiplier and up to date instruction set (it being one of the first Phenom II derivatives after all ;) ).

Edit:

Oh, and if the extra thirty odd quid is not an issue, see above listed advice. :)

Am on a very tight budjet I'm sorry to say. Does that list include any AM2+ cpus ? and the 6000+ isn't on it either so is that not supported /. Sorry if this is all simple stuff just need to get it right.

thanks again

6400 being a revision and an eventual replacement of the 6000 CPU, I am certain your MB will take it. I also recall Anandtech doing an OCing round up on your board featuring this processor back in the day. Overall, just because every single version of a CPU is not listed for a MB product, does not mean it is not supported, given its release falls into MB's lifespan. Which is why I referred you to a BIOS update in this instance.

Edit:

Note to self: never post on a forum when tired! :D But I just wanted to add that you can always get in touch with OcUK's tech or sales teams before you make your mind up on a product. They will be more than happy to advise over the phone or online. :)

The 7850BE is based on the original Phenom and not the Phenom II, if the motherboard supported one of the Phenom II based CPUs chances are it would support most of them.

As for which CPU to go for that really depends on what your looking to use the PC for.
