AM2 Out ?

Im not so sure about the gains, from some sites ive looked at - the same spec AM2 processors perform worse across the board then there sk939 counterparts

The most interesting thing about AM2 is nVidia's new chipset. If I had to buy a system right now instead of waiting for Conroe, I would be tempted by AM2 purely for the new chipset. Of course, you also get all the teething problems usually associated with new tech too ..

I have to admit, I like the fact that all the AM2 boards appear to be passively cooled

I agree, just look at gibbo's thread in the graphics card section where using two 7900gtx's in sli gains an impressive performance boost from the nvidia 590 chipset because of the linkboost or whatever it is called... personally though im waiting for conroe still, if it wasnt for that i'd definately be tempted

Do the single core Athlon 64 AM2's have the copper heatpipe cooler of the X2 processors?
