Hi Guys,
Just a quick question, is there any memory out there above 1600 MHz specifically for the AMD market? All the memory I seem to look at seems to be for the Intel I3-7 range. Any thoughts/advice?
most newer AMD boards have out the box support for DDR3-1600 without the chip/FSB being clocked . . . once you stray outside the default FSB speeds then you open up a world of possibilities! . . . I'm not that up on DDR3 overclocking on the AMd platform but I think I've seen some stable screenies of the memory around 1800MHz or higher!
Any DDR3 for an Intel platform will work fine with an AMD system, any AMD specific memory will work fine on an Intel Platform as long as it's low-voltage type . . . I also noticed that [SPD] info on the Intel specific memory didn't get translated properly by the AMD motherboard and needed the timings and voltage set manually (1 minutes work), this is normally done automatically . . . . apart from that just find the best sub £100 kit you can find, in your boots I would hustle a kit of DDR3-1600 Cas7 or maybe Cas8 if the price is right!
You can pretty much relax about your choice though as it's all good in the hood!
Does ram make a lot of difference? For example I have DDR 2 800mhz. If i get a new motherboard, and new DDR3 ram 1600mhz, do i get lots of performance improvements?
Sorry for disrupting a bit the thread xD
Also Big.Wayne is right, you just have to deal with it that way
