Basically my faithful old rig is starting to show its age and need to upgrade. Literally been on 24/7 for 4 years without skipping a beat with a few hours off for upgrades. :)

At the moment using a Gigabyte board with a duo 2.13, but switching back to a hex AMD and moving to ddr3.

I transfer a lot of data between PC and portable hard-drives and already have a usb 3 1tb portable so would like at least 2 usb 3s. My pc is on 24/7 so has to be reliable and hardwaring.

Many of the gigabyte boards seem to be out of stock at the moment so any recommendations for a solid reliable board within my budget of £100 or less.

I'll wait for the right board if you reckon one of the out of stock ones would be better.

Thanks guys.

Decided on the following unless anyone says why before Monday:

AMD Phenom II X6 Six Core 1090T Black Edition 3.20GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail
Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 AMD 880G (Socket AM3) DDR3 Motherboard
G.Skill RipJawsX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-17000C9 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit

Seems a decent upgrade for less than £300.

That looks good, though I'm really not sure how much good those last two cores on the X6 will do you unless you're into 3D rendering and such. This might change over the course of the year, but at the moment games and simpler applications really don't benefit much from six cores.

I was going for Hex for future proof rather than immediate gain as hopefully this will last 3-5 years with maybe just adding some more ram.

I am going to be awkward and recommend a Intel Sandy Bridge setup:

Which beats the AMD in pretty much all tests:

But the AMD spec is good, I using that board in my spare pc which I am very happy with :)

Edit: do require onboard GPU?
