hi
i have an aging mb and an athlon x4 and thinking about upgrading.
i have been looking at the AM3+ motherboards and processors. but not getting a new processor till i hear more about the new amd processors.
so does anybody know if ill be able to put an AM3 processor into an AM3+ motherboard?
thanks :)

You can get a 900 series gigabyte board for £90 and that is what I would go for. With 8 + 2 power and guaranteed BD compatibility it will take your current CPU and other components.

gabyte GA-990XA-UD3 springs to mind, thats the mobo i am considering at the moment, has everything you need, especially if your going with agility 3 ocz :D

Whats the truth in what i read. Most AMD3 motherboards, after a bios flash they will be able to take the new am3+ chips?

pretty sure the older ones, even with a bios upgrade wont be able to use all the AM3+ features as there is 1 pin less. i think, might be wrong. actually, now i think about it i probably am
