AM4 Mobo?

I bought my son an NVME drive for Xmas, only to discover his mobo doesn't have an NVME slot (i didn't even think to check as I haven't had a board for years and years that doesn't have one)

What are some of the best AM4 boards around that I can hopefully pick up 2nd hand for him? He has a Ryzen 7 3700x that I donated him when I last upgraded, and a RX5700 GPU with 16GB DDR4 RAM

What board does he have now? That surprises me to.

What size are you looking for? I believe at the time the b450 tomahawk was the go to for cost/features so best chance of finding one second hand. That is ATX size thought.

He has an Asus Prime A320m-r

I will have to check his case, he upgraded that recently but i'm not sure if it was still matx - I've been so busy with work that last few years and moved into more of a non-technical role i'm starting to feel lost

Do you need WiFi ?

Used motherboard , do you have access to the members market ?

You dont need the 'best' board if you're coming from an A320 and have been happy so far.
I'd suggest a B450 2nd hand for under £50, check it has an M2 slot and supports the X3D chips for future potential updates and you'll be sorted.

Able to slot a pcie - nvme expansion card in the lower slot or is it covered by the GPU ? may not be the fastest speeds but could be easier than replacing the MB

Thanks, I was looking at a b550 for 80 new, will see what I can find 2nd hand though.

The 1x slot is covered with the GPU

You could get a new a520 motherboard for £50 it's pcie3 but so is the 3700x.

I'd just stick a post in wanted in the MM and see what people have. I had a couple of AM4 boards after the mining boom but have given them all away now
