after some research about 3-4 weeks ago it seemed the sweetspot for ddr4 ram was 2400.

now im unsure if that was an early guess gven the amount of people complaining due to being early converts etc. however the question is in the real world is my 2400 ram quick enough to take advantage of the 1600x or or should i have bit the bullet and went for 3000+ ram???

From most of what I have read Ryzen loves fast ram so I'd have thought 3000 minimum with 3200 being the 'sweet spot' for price/perf. Not sure where you were researching 3-4 weeks ago though as I'm sure it's been in the open since release, if not before it, that Ryzen likes faster ram.

3200 is sweet spot I think. With Ryzen cache speed is equal to memory speed so high speed gives a healthy boost but top high limits cpu oc.

For me on like 10 cpu 3200 was ideal to gain but not lose in the balancing act.

Hi 8 pack,

Could you help in this thread: https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/budget-ryzen-ram.18781002/

The guys on the phone are recommending I go for the 2400mhz version, but would the 3000mhz be better then? I know its the cheapo ram, but it is a budget build. Or even if you have a recommendation of RAM i should go for even if it is abit more expensive?
