Which Characters from Film or TV do you think are brilliant?

Post up a link if possible of a stand out scene or similar if you can.

Try and stick to 1 or 2 to give other people a chance :)

Oh, nice thread. I have a bunch of favourite characters who are awesome, so i'm going to think hard about who i post. For now, though, my favourite comic relief.


Stewie is comic brilliance. That it's still ambiguous if people understand him or not, his closet homosexuality/bisexuality, his expert relationship with Brian (who is himself a great character. I watch Family Guy purely for these two.

Absolutely love this show, so much. There are so many great characters in it but Alan Statham is by far my favourite.

He's a great actor, he brought lots to to Spaced as well as Brian.

I can't post anything of him because this is a family friendly forum. But Ian Mcshane as Al Swearengen is amazing in Deadwood.

The Wire had too many great characters! And obviously Breaking Bad

My favourite scene with him is where he is talking to the admin girls and says "When the rapier of my wit is fully unsheethed I could make a woman laugh until she fills her shoes with piddle!", seconds later juggling a cup he nearly knocks over. It's one really long take and he absolutely nails it right on the head. Legendary actor.
 
Superhans - Peep Show

Undoubtedly one of my favourite shows and characters. Absolutely phenomenal in EVERY short scene he appears in.

 
I love Super Hans.

Titus Pullo and Lucius Vorenus from Rome were great whenever they got into kickus-assus mode. Can't post a clip at the moment.

Edmund Blackadder - Blackadder - The character is played so perfectly by Rowan and is also so well written that you can't help but love him, even though he's nasty to everyone!

Arnold Rimmer - Red Dwarf - My favorite character ever. He is also responsible for my favorite every line in comedy when deciding to go back and change time to stop Lister being a rich billionaire. 'it's my duty, my duty as a complete and utter b******'

Starscream - Transformers G1 - Ah, good old Starscream. He has some great lines with Megatron during the series and I love his sarcasm.

I used to think James Marsters as Spike in Buffy was the coolest man on the planet. But after only just getting round to watching Battlestar Galactica he has been usurped by Edward James Olmos as Admiral Adama. Now I always thought he was a pretty cool bloke as Castille in Miami Vice, but adding Adama to his repotoire he is now *clearly* the coolest man ever to have existed by a country mile.
 
Can't believe no one has mentioned Mal Reynolds yet! Actually Firefly has many great characters!

Another which springs to mind is T-Bag from Prison Break... mid way through watching them through for the first time.

Also Sean Bean tends to play good characters in pretty much everything he's in, but Sharpe must be the ultimate.

Edit: Just thought of another 2 characters I love, both from the same film, Hicks and Hudson :D
