I started off with 53c idle and 85c load furmark on my HIS 4870 1GB a few weeks ago with stock cooler and stock cpu cooler. Since installing the TRUE on the cpu, I find it affects the temp of the gpu indirectly. I'm now at 33c idle and 45c load with furmark with the thermalright HR-03-GT and a 120mm ac ryan 77.70cfm fan. Yesterday, my load was 58c with a 46cfm fan on the thermalright. What a difference it makes changing from 46cfm to over 70cfm.
When I installed the vga cooler, I fumbled with the screws as it's a bit tricky turning the card over while still holding the cooler in place and making sure the seal isn't broken. Consequently, I dropped a washer and had to break the seal. I didn't reapply the MX-2 to the gpu core, so I'm thinking, maybe if I reapplied it I could drop the temps even more? Not that it's even necessary, but, for the sake of it.
