As winter is closing in i thought it would be a good idea to take my little Polo G40 off the road before they start gritting. That meant getting a winter warrior for under £500 that would see me though in comfort with a good heater!
I Managed to snare this for £440 off ebay.

Ford Mondeo 2.2TDCI GHIA X

MOT until July, 4 new tyres, recent clutch, alternator, battery, brakes and exhaust

Its been remapped too.

Drives lovely, that will do me!

You check the MOT history?

I just did

https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/

Also if you look, the same ARB failure has come up (Aug15 and Jul16) suggesting it isn't actually getting fixed.

edit:

On a separate note I think they should give the MOT Test Centre Number on the website as well which would help.

lol holy sheep ****, i hope you plan on getting rid before july.
Yep i checked it. There is nowt wrong with it boys. I like to see stuff like that on an MOT it shows its actually had a proper one done!

No I guess not. Begs the question though why would the previous owner spend more than the value of the car in the last 6 months then sell it for dirt?

Just got a new car after having this one for 4 years. I would guess he got tired of throwing money at it and decided to get something newer before another potential problem arises.

However the implication of the thread is that this car is a bargain - meaning it is much cheaper than you'd expect a 2.2 TDCi Ghia X to be.

If the car has just had hundreds spend bringing it up to scratch, why sell it for much less than its worth?

Surely a decent Ghia X TDCI is a 1500 quid car all day long.

It's worth about £700 tops. I'm not saying it was a bargain per se I was just surprised the amount of car you can get for the money.

Ahhh, OcUK Motors section at it's finest - No surprise that the OP stopped posting looking at some the stuff posted in here.

OP - Having had the exact same model the three things to watch for were the Clutch (just done!), EGR clogging (simple 15min fix) and the boost pipes from the intercooler to the manifold splitting (age/heat) which is another 15min job but very dirty. Other than that they were pretty solid unless they were driven less than 8k miles a year on short runs "just for the shopping" etc which effects all diesels.

Yeah I just looked at a lot of these posts and laughed to myself. It's a winter hack to me, nothing more. If something big breaks I will just scrap it and move on.

I know what breaks on them probably better than anyone on here does to be honest. I have worked for ford for 10 years.

Just thought i would update this. Still going strong, not done anything to it except put fuel in and drive. Not even washed it, only the lights and plates have seen my sponge!
