Amazon Customer service - my issues

I returned a DJ mini 2 to Amazon on the 1st, Hermes collected it and I contacted Amazon on 15th to chase up my refund. They said they'd refunded it, but I never got the standard refund email so I queried it a day later to be told the refund had failed as it was high value item - 'get back in touch in 48 hours'.

So today I followed it up, same spiel - we've refunded it. I ask where my confirmation email is to which they reply 'oh the refund has failed because it's a high value item'. Told them I was tired of being fobbed off, and to put me through to a supervisor. Krish the sup, says he will refund the item and sent me an email, not a refund confirmation email but one he's composed himself stating the refund will be with me in 5-7 days.

I'd had enough at the point, so was about to quit the chat when I noticed in my order history he'd cancelled the return status and now it shows as not being returned at all. I lost it, asked him what the hell was going on, he said it 'apparently this speeds up the return process'. So going by my order history I'm officially left with no item and potentially no refund and left relying on this customer service that has blatantly fed me BS numerous times.

I sent a complaint email along with screen grabs of the chat to [email protected] but it bounced, I'll need to find another damn email addressses to fire it off too - maybe once I've calmed down a bit.

Amazon's CS is way off the quality is used to be, it's now bloody dire.

I think you're just that one unlucky person with this one as i've used used the amazon return service a few times over the past couple of months (16TB Hdd's dead on arrivial etc) but they have refunded without question on each time, even before the product has actually made it back to them.

Do you directly email or use their inbuilt messaging system?

I've edited the thread title for you so I don't have to suspend you and annoy you some more. Happy Friday, and I'm sure it will be sorted :)

Calm down before you proceed and remember whoever you end up talking to is very likely not going to be the person directly responsible for the issue that has occurred.

aww give us a hint....what was original title....i need cheering up and how better a way than a laugh at someone elses expense :p

I have returned many things back, most recent being a Noctua Cooler (roughly £78), as it was out of the no question asked return window (3 months?) they asked me to contact Noctua support first, and that if they do not respond to me within 2 days I should get back to them and they will refund me. This happened over the weekend, on Tuesday I contacted them again and got a return label, refund provided a day or 2 later back on my card.

My most expensive return so far has been the Xiaomi 10T pro just under £400, I bought it in November but then got a S21 Ultra 512Gb in Feb following a EE 50% discount misprice. Contacted Amazon in Feb, returned with no question asked, got full refund + the £10 promo discount that I used at the time after I contacted CS and explained to them I could have used that discount on something else!

I understand the frustrations of OP, but I think doesn't matter how good a company's CS is they will always have cases on the extreme where they fall very short or exceed expectations.
All I can say is stay calm and keep contacting CS until you get through to someone who will be able to resolve it for you.

Lol, I'm getting somewhere.

I spoke to someone on chat to get a complaints email and they dealt with the issue there and then, although still no refund at present. They've escalated it to the specialist time and I've to wait the 'magic' 48 hours again.
She couldn't tell me why Krish cancelled my return, probably because I ruined his day I guess :)

Screen grabs galore so I've got a trail of who I've spoken too.

I once ordered a DJI Mini 2 from Amazon on a whim.
Then I cancelled it within minutes on the same whim. The refund came straight through.

Later that evening, I had a few bevvies and ordered it again!
Before I went to bed, I realised what I'd done and cancelled it again.

That refund took a week to come back. I know this is a different matter but I just figured it was my own stupid fault for being a) indecisive and b) drunk.

I haven't bought a DJI Mini 2 again from anywhere else.... Yet!

Everything I've actually had delivered and returned has been refunded very quickly. When I've dropped it at the Post Office, the refund is normally back in my account by the time I've got home and more recently, when Hermes have collected it, I get the refund that same evening.

In my experience this depends on how they refund you, or what you paid with.

If you paid with a gift balance, then they will usually be able to refund that as soon as they see the item is in-flight (pun intended, DJI and all that).

If paid on CC, normally they check it in first and takes a bit longer. If sending stuff back you can often ask for GC instead of CC refund to get it quicker, but it means it's stuck in Amazon until spent.

I find lower value items are refunded as soon as the return package is scanned,. High value items I have to wait until they actually get it (fair enough just to make sure it is a £1000 item and not a brick) but never more than a few days.

Doesnt matter how I have paid either - debit card, gift balance, credit card.

I get the impression they had some issues with high value items going missing, especially with new PS5 consoles and things, so probably they are being more cautious with refunding high value items than they used to be pre cov-id.
