Amazon Customer service - my issues

I recently returned a £999 value item back to Amazon, it took 9 days for me to get the refund despite Hermes collecting it from me 3 days after raising the return.

I reckon they are getting tough because of all the scammers who return bricks, stones, damaged or incomplete items.

Amazon returns... a fantastically painless process compared the the high street. Show me a high street store that will replace, on the spot, a device that's 3 years old and failed.

Need more details of your item before I can agree, was it a TV under warranty , extended perhaps ?. Some other online retailers will do the same, if there's no redirection to the manufacturer in place for instance.

My main point is, whilst Amazon may still be one of the best places for returns ( until you run into situations like mine ) it is still a shadow of its former self.

Do you have more examples than this one instance?

You should really be using a Credit Card for purchases. S75 can be a god send.
Thank you for your concern about my finances. I don't have any credit cards so although your advice is appreciated, it's not actually useful for me.

No concern for your finances at all. Just highlighting that a credit card offers significantly more protection on purchases between £100-£30k that makes your card issuer just as liable for solving any issues should they occur. If you are buying things on the internet it is objectively a better thing to use. I wouldn't consider not having a credit card to be a humble brag.

I'm not 'humbly bragging' at all. You replied to my post where I said I use a debit card suggesting I should use a credit card. I was just commenting that I don't have one

Get one, they're free

I’m sure your refund will turn up within a week. Amazon CS is usually outstanding. I’ve returned a few high value items months after I’ve purchased them and been given a refund.

Their return process is one of the key aspects that made Amazon popular but I could list numerous instances over the last couple of years where dealing with their customer support has been anything less than stellar.

Now, if you run into problems there seems to be an initial line of agents that are simply there to placate you than actually providing a solution.

That's my experiences anyway.

A drone sounds like one of the most exposed/complex mechanical objects for amazon to assess whether customer has (im)promperly used it ...
and, if its fulfilled but not sold by amazon , wouldn't supplier have a say too.

half my recent pc build has been free thanks to shipping delays amazon just refund me the item and tell me if it ever turns up dont worry about it. Power supplies and cases all over 90quid each. Cant complain :D

It's the same with PrimeNow if you order grocery. I mean it's a bit annoying but they are quick to refund and propose you donate what you don't want :p
