Amazon delivery issue, how much is too much?

Over the past few years i've had about 5 item disputes with Amazon:

1. HDD raid cage said delivered to work but reception had no idea., replaced

2. Baby seat for car! apparently delivery rang my buzzer, said amazon delivery but never came up to the 2nd floor and never told me it was for me and that he left it by the door entrance downstairs. Took a walk or a drive. By this time i'd been accustomed to them ringing our buzzer for other peoples deliveries and thought nothing of it until i noticed it said 'delivered' in my order. Got a new seat sent. I could tell the reps were really squeezing on that one as it was 149.00 and i had to go to neighbours etc.. while on the phone but eventually they caved.

3. Cheap tweeter box apparently left by my flat door but they never knocked or rang. Never saw it. Refunded.

4. Gigabyte Z370 mobo from the 'used' but like new warehouse. Empty mobo box with just cables. Refunded.

Now 5 is a set of knives and forks for toddlers, box is empty. no product or product box whatsoever but it's only 8.99 or so and i'm wondering if i should dispute or just leave it for a bigger issue as i don't want to overdo it and get flagged or something. I've bought maybe 200 items this year but don't know if that counts!

If I lived in a block of flats like you seem to I'd definitely use amazon locker or deliver to family if local.

I started to use Amazon locker. A few years ago I order printer paper. And like your experience they left the paper outside in the heavy rain, they did not bother to ring the bell.

The problem is when you have so many orders... this is a massive PITA. I think I'm like OP (if those 200 orders are in the last 12 months) in that I have 2, 3 or 4 Amazon deliveries a week. If i had to take 30-50 minutes out of my day each time to go to the locker, that's a lot of wasted time.

What's annoying me at the moment is they keep giving things to my neighbour. They're nice enough people and will sometimes WhatsApp me when they have something, but sometimes it might be a day later (maybe they think Amazon have told me they delivered to them, which they aren't telling me) and in the mean time I'm wondering where my 'delivered' package is. Right now, I have a £70 item that Amazon say is delivered, handed to resident (like one earlier in the week, given to neighbour). I have a pretty good safe place, why do they keep disturbing my neighbour?!

Its only a 2 storey building with 12 flats and most deliveries go off without a hitch, the first time was at work where it was supposed to be delivered during term time but ended up coming at half term and there were only a few construction workers and plumbers etc.. there. The name that signed for it was unknown to any of us and it was never left in reception so easyish to explain. I'm also looking after my 20 month old daughter so can't really be as mobile as i want with the extra complication of needing to buy a car at some point as my 330D has a broken clutch and flywheel and not worth the fix as next year it'll be more or less useless in London, wife uses her mini for work.

If you have only had 5 issues in the past "few years" of ordering from Amazon, and in the last year alone you have ordered ~200 items, I don't think that's an issue.
I doubt any other company would be as good as that.

Not saying the delivery is bad, just wondering if maybe they will mark me as bad or something. I've been a member since 2003 but it was mostly for my late dad who was a teacher and ordered a lot of books at the time. Don't think i really ramped up on orders until they became a proper retailer. Looking at my order history i ordered average 6 items a year up to 2011, then 2012 was 44 and by 2019 it was 182, so far past 6 months is 106, i got married in 2015..hmmm.

Don't some local shops also act as collection points? your local petrol station probably is a delivery option

Even with Amazon locker I've had items missing from within the package. If it's sold by Amazon then claim regardless, they're currently encouraging all customers of marketplace sellers to claim a refund if their parcels are delayed during this crisis so I would not hesitate to claim direct from Amazon at all.

Yes, I think my nearest locker is a mile away at a petrol station. If I had to go now, to get dressed, head out there and come back (cycle or walk) would be a noticeable amount of time when the alternative is they should just drop it right at my doorstep...

I cant actually recall having a problem with Amazon and I have bought loads over the years. The only "issue" I have had is I took delivery of my items and then noticed a random(quite nice) non stick pan in with the order which I had not ordered, worth about 40 quid. I contacted support and they confirmed it as a mistake and just told me to keep it. :p

I have 2 amazon locker locations within 5 minute walk of work but they are no good for larger items, otherwise great.

I'm sure Amazon know exactly how crappy their delivery drivers are in any given area, and they've worked out it makes them more money to leave it that way, than to have to improve the service or spend more on better couriers. They won't flag you unless they know you're buying loads of stuff and sending most of it back.

We’re very lucky to have an Amazon Locker at my workplace. It’s no good for big stuff but fine for most things. Never had an issue with stuff being delivered there. If your workplace has 1,000+ employees and works mainly office hours it might be worth investigating?

If you don't dispute, they'll never fix it.

I've brought lots of stuff from amazon and sent it back, never had any issues.

Living in a block of flats don't help. You should speak to customer service and get something put on your account where deliveries can only be handed to you, tell them parcels have been going missing from other sources.

amazon locker works really well - i'd check that out

As above lockers work really well. When we lived in a flat i always opted for a locker delivery as a) the amazon drivers didn't have a key for the building, and b) the buildings intercom system didn't work, so it's not like you could just wait in for a delivery - unless you were specifically looking out the window all day.

That maybe so, but if you're truly getting that many orders, then you either need to be in, or have it delivered to a place where someone can accept it on your behalf. I can imagine that winding most neighbours up if they end up taking in nearly a parcel a day for the neighbour.

My local Amazon locker is not too far away, only problem is that the public have no access to it due to it being behind a door at the university where you need an access card to get in.
