Has anyone set the Amazon fire TV stick up with thier pc for streaming the pc desktop / games to a TV using windows 8.1?

I think I am missing something as when I click on the Amazon TV stick in windows I get an "no network profile setup for this device" message.

Tried many things and tbh I think either my win 8.1 is missing something or my wired connection to the router is not allowing the Amazon stick through, Or it's just not compatible with a wired connection.

Amazon TV works perfectly fine streaming movies and TV but I would like streaming from my PC to the TV if possible ( I do not have a smart TV )

Thanks for that, tried plex but i have come to learn that you need a compatible wireless card / stick to communicate with the fire stick.

Lost interest now with this tbh, luckily it was not a requirement i needed when buying a cheap tv stick.

That's not right at all. Plex works just fine. I know as I use it myself.

This is my problem posted in the other thead.

A quick question, I have a fire stick and I want to use the mirroring option to show my PC screen ony TV using the Amazon stick.

I have no option to extend the desktop or add a wireless screen within windows 8.1. If I try to add a device in windows and select the Amazon stick it says no profile for this device.

Does anyone know exactly what's needed to use mirroring or how to get the "add wireless screen" option to appear in the charm/devices window?

Does your desktop use a wireless connection to connect to the net? If not then it doesn't look as if you can mirror your PC screen. If it does then you need to ensure the Fire Stick is set to receive the mirrored desktop.

Thanks for the replies.

I have enabled mirroring On The stick and then tried to find it which it does fine in windows, It's when I add the fire stick in windows that I get the message stating that "There is no network profile for this device" message.

I was using a wired connection to my router but then disabled Ethernet and used my wireless stick which worked fine for the net but still gave me the same message as above.

In that YouTube video ^ on the devices window I do not get the add wireless display option at the bottom.
