Amazon plagued with counterfeit Ryzens

So it seems there's a wave of counterfeit Ryzen CPUs doing the rounds on Amazon:

It appears some unscrupulous types are mass buying Ryzen CPUs then RMAing them with these obviously not Ryzens in the box and it's close enough to fool the technically illiterate people in the RMA department.

I'm not sure if this is terrible, ingenious or a mix of both lol.

I'm going to be the first numpty/technically illiterate person and ask how can you tell?

It's an old Intel chip that's had Ryzen heatspreader info printed onto it's heatspreader.

(Unless this is a cunning photoshop, but I'm 90% sure I remember a dubious flirtation with double pentium4 chips on a single package... It didn't end well. Nor did this guy's delid )

The Pentium D was basically two downclocked Pentium 4 dies on the same chip, they had nothing to compete with the Athlon 64 X2 so had to resort to putting out chicken **** and trying to blag/trick everyone into believing it was chicken salad until the Core Duo was ready.

I am worried now tho that I bought a s/h i5 4590t for silly money and it may not even BE an i5..I havent had time/oppo to test it yet ...

Move the mouse to the bottom left of your screen, right click and select system, it will tell you what CPU you have.
