Amazon pre-order & price change question

Wondered if anyone has any experience with this.

Say I spot an item on Amazon for preorder at, say, £20.
I order, get the receipt & expected shipping date etc.

Then a few days later the item has changed price to £30.

Anyone know where I now stand with my preorder?

(I'm deliberately not naming the item btw, as I don't want a load of people jumping on the bandwagon!)

They tend to cancel the order and send you an email to explain why.

They did this to me for lego star wars 2 on the 360 for £18 and a few other bits (cod2 etc.~) you can kick up a fuss and they might honor it or give you a small voucher as way of compensation

Yep same thing happened too me. I had my order cancelled and had too order again.

They do not charge your credit/debit card until they despatch the order so they are not legally bound to sell you the item at the advertised price.

I once saw a rather large and expensive book mistakenly priced at 1p on amazon.co.uk and so ordered about 30 copies to no avail!

Someone at HMV priced Pro Evolution Soccer 5 at £14.99 as a pre-order.

I ordered it (along with loads of other people) and actually got it for the price.

However, HMV sent me an e-mail saying that they have the right to change the price before the order is fully completed - I imagine the same applies elsewhere.

Many places will honour pre-order pricing.
Play were taking pre-orders of Ourun Coast-to-Coast on the PC for £14.99
Now I know Play do sometimes have some amazing deals but that seemed really good.
With three weeks to go until release I ordered.
The pre-release price went up to £19.99 I believe a week before it's release.
I received the game on release date and I was only ever charged the £14.99 for it.

It really does depend on how much it may have been mis-priced to be honest.

They quite often have the right to cancel your order if there has been a mis-prie but most companies will let it slip as long as no one is taking the mick and ordering 10+ copies or something or the item is underpriced by say £15+ depending on the value of the item.

I remember getting Pro Evolution 5 from HMV for £14.99 (Well, £13.49 / Is a student :p ) and it was suppose to be £29.99.

Good luck! :D

Ok, cheers - we'll have to see what happens.

Nope, still not telling ;)

Erm it really doesn't matter as most online companies will dispach the first preorders first so you won't loose out on your place. The price has also gone up so its not really a *bargain* any more either. :p
