Amazon reviews

That's very true when you put it in that context. Makes a lot of sense.

I've seen it before where someone says "oh delivery was 2 days later than expected" as a 1 star review.

They really shouldn't be allowed as a review at all.

Unless of course, it stipulates that this is a review of the sellers conduct.

And that's what the seller feedback/review section is for.

Most of these incentivised reviews are still verified purchases.

I got so much junk from reviewing stuff. I have boxes of dash cams, bluetooth speakers, iPad cases etc. Some really odd things as well. I've got a 5 CCTV camera set up to review still.

Amazon product reviews should be taken with a pinch of salt. I know this from having a product on there myself and having to endure deceitful reviews from a competitor.

Yeah, why would I want to read a genuine review of something I want to purchase?

I'll buy blind next time.

go find a genuine review. not junk reviews. Anywhere with mass public reviews are junk. They mean nothing and if you are gauging them on that then god help yout. doesn't matter if its amazon, ebay or even on ocuk.

if its a mainstream item, then there will almost certainly be videos on youtube, if not there are plenty of review sites etc.

I haven't been sitting there reading every single review. I scan through them to see if they have some sort of disclaimer in there first.

Now I know I can filter them from verified purchases, I'll be able to sort the wheat from the chaff.

Yup, a lot of the "i got this free" reviews are people who get refunded from a full purchase or whatever, they are still verified.

The non verified is like the 10k "this game sucks" reviews for a game not out for 6 months, verified just means someone has placed and order and received it, it doesn't in any way filter out those who were paid for the review. In fact, the most sensible situation for getting biased/paid for reviews is to get them verified by offering refunds or whatever on real purchases precisely because they then end up verified and people think that means a fair review for some reason.

I've noticed all these "unbiased" reviews too. Certain products have them more than others but I've found it is the lesser known brands which do this to compete in the market.

Another thing I've noticed is "Recommended by PC Pro Magazine" or similar within the title of a product yet doing a Google search turns up nothing.

So many shysters on the Internet!

I've left a bad review before when I wasn't happy with a product, purely to warn other people. Only to later receive a message from the seller (Fulfilled by Amazon) asking me to change it in exchange for a partial refund. I declined and returned the goods, my review still stands.

Never been sent anything free, nor asked to review anything though, didn't know companies on Amazon did that.

Only thing that annoys me about them is no one ever seems to offer me products at reduced or free pricing!

Nor have I. So how do they do it? Saying that I rarely review. Yet I know people who reviews a lot and doesn't get the stuff either so it cannot be that.

At least they are upfront about it unlike the youtubers who are paid to play a game but don't disclose it. I find the 1star reviews for the service more annoying '1 star review - seller didn't tell me anything and it turned up 3 weeks later, great product though' Give the product 5 stars then leave negative feedback for the seller then you idiot!

How does that happen - do you just write a lot of bad reviews and traders offer incentives to change the review or do you write a lot of good reviews and traders want you to review their stuff specifically?

Actually I find Amazon reviews some of the best as they don't filter out bad reviews like most sites. As long as you know what to look out for like paid for reviews etc and profilerstion of positive reviews but not verified then it's fine.

They are also insightful as people actually write detailed reviews rather than "gr8 product"

Ah yeah the 1 star from people who have totally failed to understand the item or had problems through their own very obvious stupidity :(

Yeah, annoys me too. saw one once whch was a one star review along the lines of "bought olympus lens for my canon camera - didnt fit"
