My hopes aren't high either. But it will at least be interesting to watch the development though, for me, a good Tolkien MMO (LOTRO notwithstanding) would be the Holy Grail of MMO's.

I'm not expecting much, with New World they showed that they fundamentally lack an understanding of the MMO genre
 
GRRM owns the IP. There have been 11 GOT games - all failures.

A well constructed MMO would be fantastic though given the amount of lore. PvP could be humans v White Walkers. Just think of the PvE quests. Dragon mounts

Though only a couple of people on the server would be able to ride a dragon due to their limited number and the white walkers in PvP would all die to a level 8 female rogue with a dagger :D

I mean technically isn't she a bard? No rogue ever can do that magical face thing she has going on. And she is a performer, acting like the person she is masking to stick that dagger in :p

The face thing never made sense to me, she's like 5ft tall, wouldnt people notice that the people she has put a mask on of, has suddenly changed from a 6ft guy to 5ft tall? Unless it is indeed a magical spell where she puts the face on and her entire body and voice morph into that person and then morphs back when she pulls the face off. Actually come to think of it, is the face just the skin? Wouldnt her eye colour be different? Or does she also pull out their eyes?

I guess if its a magic spell then yeah maybe in DND terms she would be an Arcane Trickster
 
Just do it properly and make a new DND MMporg, the lore ****** all over that Tolkien crap anyway at least you can explain away 3000 secret wizard underground layers with a 5billion trillion million skeletons from 20 civilisations each with their own cataclysims..... besides you can never have enough skeletons to kill (Grim dawn is awesome for this)

Five feet? Nah, more like four feet.

Hang on, she could have been in The Hobbit too!
 
I still play new world its improved a lot since launch I have over 1400 hrs in new world I've definitely had my moneys worth especially as you don't have to pay monthly subs

Granted its a grind but so is all mmos

The devs have said it will not be a new world 2.0

Give it a go when it's next on sale its definitely not the worst game out

Got no problem with an MMO being a grind, most MMOs are, my issue with New World always was (and still is) that its just a very poor MMO, lacking in most of the features that ought to be in an MMO imo.

For me, its one of those "MMOs" which is for people who never got to be around during the golden age of MMOs (the pre-2004 era) and so never got to play MMOs like UO, Daoc, EQ1, AC1 and SWG and as a result unfortunately arent aware of just how much can actually be in an MMO or how good they truly can be.

The MMO genre used to be my favourite genre of gaming (back in the pre2004 days) but they are so dumbed down now and its maddening that MMOs in 2023 actually have less features that ones from 25 years ago. Thats regression rather than progression.
