AMD 11.5 Released

On a related note both 11.5 & 11.5a have broken gpu acceleration in vlc :(

From what I can tell, it's been broken for a while really. Since 11.2 I haven't had any success with DXVA on MPC/VLC, when having multiple instances open (starts to lag like a motherf-yeah). Although going back to 11.1 after didn't help. I don't know whats going on really, whether its a combination of both MPC and CCC which is messed up I don't know. I keep both updated mostly, but issue is pretty much prevalent to the point I just dont bother with DXVA any more. I mean it jumps to like 30% GPU usage with it, compared to 6% CPU. SURELY CPU is using less power? Should just be for those without enough CPU to enable 1080p and whatnot.

VLC was installed to help test compatibility, it too was laggy after more than 1 instance was opened.

Honestly, with all these issues I guess the golden rule is update only if you NEED to.

Anyway, 11.5s have put my Windows index for GPU down from 7.7 to 5.3. The same thing it did when DXVA stopped working on 11.2s...

Gonna try 11.5a's now.

Well, guys, here's the story then. On 11.4 I tested furmark. I've got 2 versions, 1.7.0. and 1.8.2. I used 1.7.0. on stock res of 1024 x 768. With my 4870 I used to get 5700 score. With the 5850, I get 12,400 score, more than double. Max fps 308, avg 207, min 165.

With the 11.5 drivers and also the 11.3 drivers, I get 11,800 score, consistently, max fps around 270 or so. Just reverted to 11.4 and I'm back to 12,400 score, max fps 308, avg 207, min 165.

It's not really important, but, strange, huh. So I might as well stick with 11.4 until I crossfire later in the year.

Hmm I wonder if 11.5's will fix my crossfire woe's (black banding) in BC2 on my 2x 5870's :o proably not...sigh:rolleyes:

Hi

Did you try disabling Bloom or at least set it to bloom=low in your settings.ini ?

Before I was suggested fraps caused it and as I used it thought no problem I can do without..but that didn't fix it will try Sans Bloom..even though its a major Graphical option

Was toying going to 2 6970's but the banding issue has put me off ...any one with crossfired 69xx get banding in bc2 ?

I'm still on 11.1 :o

What's the best way to update?

Remove old drivers then run current one (11.5) or just run 11.5 straight from dl?

I just install the new ones straight over the old version, works fine for me. In 11.4 you can even do it from within CCC, took them long enough to implement that.

Nice.

CoD:WaW used to have about 3 seconds of huge lag upon entering a server for the first time - now with 11.5 I barely even notice it it's so short!

(Only game I've had time to try so far, exams etc :()

i installed these last night (11.5a) and just tested Crysis2 . Game-play feels more sluggish than the 11.3's . Anyone else find this ?
