AMD 11.9 Driver issues

I went to have a shot of the BF3 beta and the game tells me that my drivers are out of date and need to be rectified.

So i download my drivers for my HD5870 on Win7 and when it installs it goes so far then the entire computer crashes to the point where the only way out is to turn the power off and on.

Anyone got any clue as to what the issue could be?

I'm a bit weary of keeping trying as its the computer i use for work and dont want it to get messed up with me having to do a hard restart every time.

I've been playing BF3 with a 5870 and 11.9 on Win 7

so... I guess your driver installation is borked?

heard something about taking the battery out of the mobo but I wouldn't try it until someone else confirms - coz i can't really remember the details.

uninstall the drivers and try these , a lot of us have tried this hotfix posted on these forums and it seems to be ok , http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18322797

Are you sure its crashing? When I tried to install the screen went black a few times (like it usually does with display driver install) and then stayed black, but there was still hard drive activity. All I did then was pressed the power button (so it shutdown cleanly) and let it boot normally. According to the CCC I have 11.9s installed and working despite the odd install.

Yeah it deff crashes, the screen comes back but its all messed up and nothing repsonds, left it for 5min and no difference.
