There you have it, uninstall cap 12.11 people. Finally AMD saw sense and embedded it in the driver.

Dont they do this all the time? Like say Driver 13.2 and CAP1 13.2 next Driver 13.3 will have CAP1 13.2 and so on?

If you understand what I saying lol

Quick call the men in white coats, shankly has gone mad!!

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. The idea to add them into the drivers so its a complete package is a good idea though.

Dont use Fusion, Driver sweeper is fine. I control panel and remove driver and restart, Then run Driver sweeper and restart again and then install new driver.

Really just make sure once you remove the driver and after driver sweeper restart you should have the standard VGA mode where everything is massive icons etc.

Actually Driver Fusion is excellent and currently the only driver sweeping tool i would advise anyone to use, certainly on windows 8. Driver sweeper deletes system files that cannot be repaired or replaced on windows 8 by sfc /scannow.

I included a unlocked version of driver fusion in my AMD overclocking thread if anyone is interested.

Mmmm I been using Driver sweeper on Windows 8 since day one. I have now installed couple driver sets and used this program with no issue.

Which version? I was using 3.2.0. They may have fixed the issue in 3.3.0. Either way a sure fire way to check is to use command prompt, right click run as admin, then type sfc /scannow and hit enter.

If it says it finds integrity violations your os is botched forever unless you reinstall.

Btw driver fusion is just the latest version of driver sweeper, and providing you have an unlocked version it deletes everything but doesn't break stuff.

TBH i just install drivers over the top, i have seen no proof of driver corruption lol?

After installation it even tells you if its been a success or not?

Ive had no problems at all installing drivers, i think people still think its windows 95/98 back then it was a bit of a mess but these days its perfectly fine imo, no need for 10 restarts and stuff lol.

Every time you install a driver over the top you lose hard drive space. This is the riskiest way of installing gpu drivers. Eventually files will conflict and why would you want to lose hard drive space each time? Not everything gets over written. No doubt a few people will say 'its never caused problems for me', to them i say each to his own.

Version 3.2.0. :D Didn't know they was 3.3.0
But if say sfc does find anything and my PC is running fine why worry?? I dont want to Run SFC /scannow, lol if I know something is up i'll start reinstalling windows.

Lol yep you're screwed. I don't know how vital it is or when it will start to cause problems for you. For me i cannot use a copy of windows i know has been damamed beyond repair. If you don't want to lose everything then you need to do a windows 8 refresh. Or as you say you can carry on using it hoping it never causes a problem for you. Good luck either way, i swore never to use sweeper or atiman again after they both botched windows 8 installs for me.

The installtion process deletes whats there before it installs the new stuff anyways and then you can just defrag after?

I don't know the ins and outs, just been told by the AMD rep its not the way to do things. I do know it eats up hard drive space and not everything gets over written though.

Why did you tell me this :( now I must check sfc.
But what issue are we talking about could happen here? I get nothing strange happening like error in the event viewer etc.

Could this just be you getting to odc? lol

Sorry man, i assumed you would be using the last version of driver sweeper 3.3.0. Frankly 3.20 is hard to find as it was the infamous version that broke everyones windows install. That's why its so hard to find. I'm guessing you got it from the same place i did. :p

I don't know what can happen, all i know is that it deletes some files which cannot be repaired or replaced and windows own self help repair tool is unable to fix them. The only solution for me (and i had a damn good look) was a fresh install. The old repair install trick will work as well. I decided to start afresh though as once i knew it was botched i wanted all elements gone.

I now use system restore as driver sweepers have killed 3 windows 8 installs for me. :D Despite all this Driver Fusion is clean and serene and it deletes everything amd related and does not break or damage windows 8 in any way shape or form. :)

I will just take the risk and hang in there with this windows install. I have nothing strange happening, But I will start using Driver Fusion from now on.

Good choice. Before you uninstall driver sweeper you might be able to restore the files unless you disabled backup. However if you did multiple sweeps then it might be too late, worth a try though. Good luck!

Nooo lol I dont want to run the scan :)
I just been looking though the logs back dated to May last year and all files in the logs relate to AMD driver.
Nothing stands out.

If you don't want to run the scan then you won't know the name of the damamged files. The scan only tries and fails to repair them, its nothing bad.

I do, but the game doesn't launch with them, so I close them.

My 7970 has problems with the game, I can't run it in 3D Match Engine either, but I prefer 2D, so no worries there.

I found the same a fix was shutting down afterburner. However if you copy my settings here it will work so you can have fm running with afterburner+overlay at the same time.

Btw Martini using those settings above 13.2 Beta 4 + fm2013 + afterburner+overlay working perfectly.
