Hi

So im at the stage after buying parts over a period of time that im about to buy the CPU and GPU, im mainly into gaming and the build is an AMD set up.

Im looking at the perfect balanced set up for CPU/GPU where im going to get the best bank for buck

Any and all advise welcomed

I would get a Ryzen 5600x or 5800x depending on what you feel comfortable with, then with the rest of the money something like the 6800xt (as they are slightly easier to get) unless you get a nvidia 3080 fe from the nvidia shop. This will be more future proof. This will give you an idea of gpu performance and if you would be happy to drop to a 6800/3070 https://youtu.be/-Y26liH-poM?t=618

At MRSP the 5800x/6800XT would be a great combo for you but you might decide to go with 5600x/6800 or 5600x/3070 at current market prices

I have been set on the 5800x from pretty much day one when the 5000 series came out but was wondering if i would be overpaying for little increase over what the 5600x could do, i suppose like you said, the main difference will be in the GPU i pick. Thanks for the feedback

The consoles have 8 cores so if games developers start to really take advantage of 8 cores/16 threads in games then the 5800x will be the better buy, it's hard to know how much difference there will be between the 5600x or 5800x going forward in games, especially at 1440p gaming or higher. Some youtube reviewers recommend 6 core and some 8. I do remember the days though of 4 core being enough and now they cause stutter in some new games
