hello and good afternoon everyone

So my brother is getting his first ever gaming computer and is going the amd route as limited budget.

He will be getting a Amd 2200G along with a MSI b450 pro carbon atx motherboard.

Just want to triple check that both are compatible with each other, far as I could tell they are and pc part picker is showing no issues.

Appreciate the help

Thanks for the replies.

One reason was as he requires a WiFi connection due to house limitations currently and also he will be running a gtx 1060 as I thought that would go well with the 2200g at least for 1080p and budget gaming.

Later down the line he could add a better cpu if wanted

Cheers for the replies

It was more a case of, he has a limited budget and currently does not work.

As a first ever pc for him, I just aimed to try and get a System which could be upgraded further along should he choose to, whilst also being able to run most 1080p games at a decent setting.

Based on benchmarks I believe this should be fine, though admit the first upgrade probabaly would be the cpu, but for the price seems quite good value

Yh all valid advice and options, so appreciate everyone’s input.

From most games I’m seeing the 2200g and 6gb 1060 is getting at least 60fps on high sometimes ultra

So should be fine for him for a year or so then can go from there, even playing on medium settings will be fine for him, as he’s coming from a laptop which could not run any games at all :)

Would the pro carbon b450 need any updates at all for the 2200g?, I’m guessing as it’s a newer board it should work right out the box ?

Don’t get me wrong I understand the views regarding go for better cpu straight away.

Just a case of from the budget view, he is literally coming from being able to play 0 games at all, so going from that to having a decent/good starter system which he can enjoy whilst not spending a great deal is the main aim.

If down the line when he finds work or has some spare income which could be either a short/long period then the option is there to grab a better cpu.

I also thought as my current laptop which I use sometimes for gaming has a i5-6300HQ, and that is around 30% slower than the 2200g and has been running games/desktop just fine
