** AMD 300 SERIES NOW IN STOCK!! **

think he means next wednesday for the fury x

'' The Radeon R9 Fury X and Fury officially launch on 24th June and 14th July respectively. The R9 Nano is planned for launch in Summer 2015 ''

Not going to read the review so I'll just ask it here. No need for a big debate I won't read anyway. Simple yes or no would be awesome.

Any reason to change my GTX980 for any of these cards?

I hate graphics card, why is it never simple.

So the 390 (non x) replaces the 290x? Or the 290?

If the 390x replaces the 290x then the 970 wins hands down here for VFM or am I being dumb?

Not being dumb. The 390x is fairly pointless at 350 sheets. See if you can pick up a 290x or 970gtx for closer to £230. The 390x is quicker with more vram, but only slightly quicker and you're unlikely to need 8gb.

390X replaces the 290X (8GB version + overclock)
390 replaces the 290 (again, extra memory and clocked)
380 replaces the 285 (overclocked, some have doubled memory)

If 3.5GB+0.5GB is enough VRAM for your needs, get the 970. If it's not, go for the AMD.

There are almost no natural scenarios where you're gonna hit that 4 gb vram limit <4k & even in the games you can you can count them on one hand, if at all. Even in most games at 4K, 4gb is enough (but even if you added more those cards that only have 4gb are simply not fast enough for that resolution). The 8gb is a gimmick, there's no way the new cards are a good deal when just last week you could've had a 290x for £210. The real release is gonna be for the Fury cards, not the refreshes.

If i was to buy a new card + block what should i do, buy a ref 290x pre-owned or a pre-blocked card or wait for new releases and buy a ref + block

Yeah thing is it would probably sit around till xmas till i get the time and cash to finish a full loop :')

Then I'd wait until Christmas and buy the card at the same time, you don't know how prices can change :) it may be worth the wait, you may be able to get a Fury X or something cheap around then.

I'm so glad I got out of the constant graphics card upgrade years ago ... 1 every 3 or 4 years will do me these days

Same here, still rocking 2x 670's in SLI and don't feel like I'm struggling yet but am mindful that the lack of Vram has affected on a couple of occasions.
