AMD 5950X

What can it do though vs a 3950X, both with PBO on and with a 6800XT @ 4k and 1440p?

Then repeat with a 6900XT please...

A 500 series motherboard
+5000 series CPU
+RX6000 graphics card
= all kinds of wonderful.

Thanks, looks good but it compares to 3080 rather than showing what uplift the 5950X is giving over a 3950X with both CPU's OC'd. What therefore is the significance of the improvement when pushing higher resolutions, does the CPU cease to be the bottleneck and the GPU the deciding factor? Just trying to understand the value of the 5950X over the 3950X at higher resolutions because it may be negligible and down to pumping more into the GPU.

I don’t think AMD talked in specifics. Everything we know so far is in the presentation. 10-15% with no optimisation IIRC.

Why would amd talk about the new cpu vs old gen cpu in a gpu presentation.... They are going to talk about the competitions gpu...

I tried Impact X570 last couple of days very solid.....same oc potential as Hero and Hero Dark you have been smashing at Ocuk HQ...

Will try really high mem clocks see if with this cpu it's helping like 4800-5000mhz.

If it’s anything like the Renoir desktop series 2200 IF 1-1, maybe a touch over is possible.

Yeah the Asus Impact is a solid board. Asus seem to have really got its act together with AM4.

Btw, can anyone try out with SMT Off, to see if there are any gaming benefits of this ... or even OC and thermal headroom?
I haven't seen any testing with SMT Off like in the past... :)

Yaaaasssss it's here

In my small amount of experience with zen 3, it's easy to make these CPUs get HOT. The 5950x in particular is not easy to keep under 80c without water cooling, it's possible if you get a good chip and do some very fine tuning but if you just do a quick and dirty pbo/all core OC yeah the 5950x will be running 80-90c easy and drawing 250-300w
