Hello there I have had some help on another forum yet people don't seem to be able to answer my question.

I currently have managed 4.1ghz @1.5v and a CPU NB of 2800mhz @1.275v on a C2 stepping of the AMD 955 BE.

Fully stable at 29c idle and 45c load running prime 95(blend) without error for 9 hours.

My question is that, do you think considering the low maximum temps, I can get away with pushing the voltage higher? To achieve a higher over clock?

My system as it stands is;
Antec 300 case
Gigabyte ma790xt-ud4p,
Amd 955be c2,
Msi twin frozor 7850,
8gb of corsair vengance 1600mhz @cl8,
2x samgsung spin point f1 1tb sata 3 hard drives,
Custom watercooling loop started from an ek kit I brought from overclockers uk.

System temps are never over 35c under load and my ancient room temp is 22c.

Any advise you can give would be greatly appreciated:)

The fact you managed to get past 3.8Ghz on a C2 stepping chip is bloody amazing in my book.

I think you should be able to i would imagine.

You've got quite a bit of room regarding temps and volts.

When I was doing research I came across max volts of 1.55v CPU and 1.35v for CPUNB.

Somthing about the cpu "tunnelling" after 1.55 apparaenyly would cause damage. Was wondering considering how low my temps are I'd be able to push it above these factory reccomendations.

I've got to agree this chip is a special one haha. Only seen one person hit 4ghz on a c2 before on liquid cooling. Air maxes out at 3.8 from what I've seen.

What do you think the max I should be able to get away with on the cpu? Don't worry I'm not the sort of person to come back shouting and swearing you told it would be safe haha.

Unless you're feeling brave i would keep it at or below 1.55v for regular usage.

Having said that for little benchmarking sessions i used to run my C3 Phenom II 955 at 1.6v for a few hours at a time with no trouble at all. It's just a case of keeping the temps down pretty much.

That's great :) thanks for your time:)

Think I may try to see what I can get at 1.55 then just bring it down to 1.475 again:) just out of pure interest:)

Um.........What monitoring software are you using?

Just to be clear, core temp on AMD is well off. I use hwmonitor and monitor cpu temps from the motherboard rather than core temps.

With core temps my cpu tells me it runs at 25c (when in 4 core mode on my 960T) when at 4ghz - 1.5cpu voltage when in fact it is at 41c. Obviously if I were monitoring the wrong temps it could get me in trouble.

I'm not suggesting you didn't know that already. It's good to be clear.

I'm using hwmonitor as well.

Sorry are you saying to pay more attention to the motherboards cpu temps than the core temp readings?

That could explain why I'm thinking I've got so much more headroom. My cpu reading from the mobo is 49 under prime @1.475 v cores are at 42-45 @1.475 v.

So ignore the core temps and watch the mobo ones?
