Seems to be able to pick em up for 40-60 pounds now, what do they overclock like? i cant seem to find a compatible motherboard?

So basically if you know of any cheap as possible motherboards that will run it give me a link, will this be ok for gaming? cheeers.

AMD Athlon II X4 Quad Core 640 at £79.99 and performs better even without the L3 cache.
Plus it uses DDR3 which is very cheap at the moment.

Yeah dont buy it, the athlonx4 range is much better, overclocks well and will use ddr3.

The original phenoms were hot, and never really clocked past 3.0ghz.

Ok thanks think ill just buy a athlon II x3 and try unlock it, this will be my first build and im going to be gaming mainly with a 4850 until i can upgrade what motherboard should i be loking at was looking at an Asrock N68C-S but the hyper transport speed at 1.0 is that ok?

Then you can get DDR3 RAM instead which is really cheap at the moment.

To avoid limiting upgrade / overclock potential I would go for a motherboard with 140w CPU support.

i just bought a Gigabyte GA-MA78LMT-S2 grade b used, was bought from here actually (originally) has no backplate etc, motherboard slight bent but works lol 20 pound, need to buy a few satas but that saved 27 pound and i get my 5200 bus, and ddr3
