Hello,

I’ve currently got a HTPC powered by a “AMD A10-5800K Black Edition 3.80GHz (Integrated HD 7660D Graphics)” according to overclockers website I could pair this with a HD 6670 to increase the gaming performance, overclockers stock the one below:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-257-AS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1983

Question is, would I be better of buying a slightly better graphics card and forgoing the CPU integration or go for the 6670? I’d like to keep the HTPC as quite as possible as it is under the TV (it does also power a projector so tempted by the 120” gaming!)

Advice appreciated

Cheers,

The 6670 is pretty dated - it's useful as a second hand card to run with the APU but I wouldn't buy a new one. You could stick in a 7850 or something - they're almost silent except when flat out.

Cheers,

Its worth doing if you can buy 2nd hand for like £20-30 like I did, then it makes the APU much more useful in games.

OK thanks for the tips.

Just noticed there is a 1GB and 2GB versions, I have 8GB RAM in the HTPC, I assume I can pair and utilise the 2GB with the integrated graphics?

Cheers,

Yes but the 1GB one is probably better as it will use faster GDDR3, the 2GB version uses normal DDR3. I'd check the part number first though just to check.
