Has anyone had a experience using the amd a10 5800k apu? thinking about getting it and was wondering if anyone has used it and whats it like? i know built in graphics are usually a bit naff, but the reviews have said that this one is pretty decent for gaming.cheers :D

The 7660D of the 5800K's performance is more suited for 1680x1050 res. Unfortunately it's not quite enough to game at 1920 res with the settings turned up yet, except for the less demanding games such as source games etc.

And you couldn't do a simple forum search for the 100 threads that already cover this question and provide info as well as performance benchmarks?

My apologies. Im new to this and have little idea how to use it, if it's affected you deeply I send my deepest regrets.

Yeah cheers found some bits which are helpful.

If you could help me though, i'm building a budget system and im gonna go for the AMD a10, and was wondering- is it worthwhile to get that, and combine it with a Radeon HD 6670? What kinda games/resoultions should I expect to get with that. Thanks

maybe more useful is stating what your maximum budget is? Literally what is the max you can afford to spend when pushed.

My max budget is £400,so I have about £50 for a GPU to be paired with the APU.

And thanks snips86x, literally watched that video about five minutes ago, the quality seems decent, I think thats good for a CPU's built in graphics.

The problem with that is crossfire is pretty hit or miss depended on the games with "possible" performance scaling and micro-shuttering issues (which is why almost everyone prefer a faster single GPU card than crossfire/sli two much slower cards). I wouldn't really recommend crossfiring for low-end graphic such as 6670 level.

You "could" consider going 2nd hand on the graphic card. A 5800K APU cost £95, but if you went Intel instead you can get a Pentium G640 with SandyBridge dual-core for just £50 (which will offer same/better gaming performance on the CPU side), and then get a 2nd hand 6850/5850/GTX460 1GB for around £50...so on the graphic side it would offer better performance than crossfiring the 7660D crossfiring with a 6670 (which the 6670 would cost another £50 extra)...and you would end up paying pretty much same amount of money for much better gaming performance.

I didn't bring up the cost of motherboard, that it would be similar on both side for socket 1155 and FM2 depending on how good a board you want to get.

Although AMD has made significant improvement on their Trinity/FM2 release over the previous gen Llano, but it is still not quite good enough for proper 1920 res gaming just yet. Next gen Trinity..."could be" the performance what lots of people waiting for for 1920 res gaming, but it would most likely be at least another year.

If I have to spend a little more....I will have to bite the bullet.
So you think the Intel build is the way to go then? The GPU looks good...

The 7850 when overclocked would be hugely faster than the 7660D or 6670 (more like 3 times its speed), but I would strongly sugguest you get the 2GB version instead of the 1GB version (as more and more games uses more than 1GB at 1920 res)...but it would be another £20 extra (I know...it's always a little bit more here, a little more there...but I would go as fast as saying 2GB vram is a need for graphic card thesedays).

Also, 8GB of ram instead of 4GB if you can. I know it's gonna be overbudget...but I'd rather spend the little extra and do it right, than to regret it later.

Also with the Z77 chipset motherboard, you'd have the option to upgrade to i5/i7 and overclock in the future. That Gigabyte board will have some limitation for overclock as the voltage would be a bit restricted (might only hit around 4.2-4.4GHz, but the other mini-itx Z77 board that can overvolt and overclocked further (4.5-4.7GHz) would be like another £30-£40, and I doubt you are planning on going for the higher overclock for a mini-itx case anyway considering the temp and cooling.

Yeah. Ideally. i3, 7850 2GB, 8GB. I understand your budget is tight, so you can go with a 7750, 7770 even, and get a good base for further upgrades.
