AMD today announced a new technology partnership with Creative Assembly, developer behind the highly-anticipated "Alien: Isolation." Developed in conjunction with the AMD Gaming Evolved program, "Alien: Isolation" is fully optimized for a premium PC gaming experience, including native support for: AMD Eyefinity technology, 4K UltraHD, AMD CrossFire multi-GPU technology, and a wide range of DirectX 11 effects tuned for the Graphics Core Next architecture in recent AMD Radeon GPUs and AMD Accelerated Processing Units.

"The AMD Gaming Evolved program is committed to making games look great and run well for all PC gamers," said Ritche Corpus, director of ISV Gaming and Alliances, AMD. "By working with truly talented developers like Creative Assembly, we deliver on that commitment with fun and beautiful games like 'Alien: Isolation,' which give PC gamers the high-end technology they deserve."

Players will discover the true meaning of fear in "Alien: Isolation," a survival horror set in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger. Fifteen years after the events of the "Alien" motion picture, Ellen Ripley's daughter Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission to unravel the truth behind her mother's disappearance. As Amanda, players will navigate through an increasingly volatile world confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and an unpredictable, ruthless Alien. Underpowered and underprepared, players must scavenge resources, improvise solutions and use their wits, not just to succeed in their mission, but to simply stay alive.

"'Alien: Isolation' is a game that plunges players into a haunting, terrifying atmosphere," said Clive Gratton, Lead Programmer, Creative Assembly. "The visual experience plays such a fundamental role in the 'feel' of the game that we went the extra mile to craft an in-house engine that fully articulates our vision. AMD has graciously helped us augment that engine for the PC with a number of effects, such as contact-hardening shadows, compute-based particles, HDAO and DirectX 11 tessellation. Support for immersion and performance technologies like AMD Eyefinity and CrossFire technologies make the whole PC experience even better!"

Gamers looking to try the rich graphics and terrifying environments of "Alien: Isolation" for themselves can secure a complimentary copy by purchasing an eligible AMD Radeon R9 Series graphics card from a retailer participating in the new Never Settle: Space Edition promotion beginning Sept. 2, 2014.

No thoughts of your own OP?

It's a shame the didn't give us any specifics such as if the game would use true audio or tressfx but this is certainly a marquee game AMD have bagged here im really looking forward to it I just hope my gtx670 isn't crippled by it.

Highly unlikely fred, AMD titles usually perform pretty well regardless of gpu vendor.

No thoughts of your own OP?

My views are well known and would have detracted from the story in the OP.

One very good thing though is the game does not use Mantle, this may sound odd coming from someone using an AMD based PC. The reason for this is they are making a big thing about 4K UltraHD which does not play nice with Mantle due to it being a VRAM hog.

Is Mantle is a Vram hog?

I'm keeping my eye on this game as I've just switched over to AMD but will probably pick it up when its cheaper as I have loads to play now.

Mantle works very well at normal resolutions but at 4K it uses a lot of VRAM due to the game Devs not properly optimising it. This is something that AMD can not do themselves, it has to be done by the game Devs on an individual basis.

This is something that will improve over time i think. They did say when Mantle launched that new bottlenecks will show up in certain areas and vram is one of them. Thankfully it's not a huge issue at the moment, but I'm sure it is an area which is being looked at. Infact, Johan Andersson has already said they're thinking of redesigning the memory management to avoid over committing for future titles.

Different developer this time though isn't it? Wasn't colon marines by rebellion?

Rebellion made some Aliens vs Predator games. It was Gearbox who did Colonial Marines and even then they passed it off to another studio whilst they carried on with Borderlands 2.

Creative Assembly seem to be really putting an effort into this one. Press are actually getting to play it, unlike A:CM, and the impressions so far have been good. It might still turn out rubbish but I'm a lot more hopeful than I was with the last game.

I wouldn't want to buy a new card and the promotion ends within a week so if I'm readying this right if you buy a new card between now and the 1st Sept you can upgrade to the new rewards until the 8th.

Purchases after the 1st need to include the new space edition promo or will be invalid.

I'm looking at getting Alien Isolation anyway so it's a very good deal.

Don't be so quick to judge mate , this game is looking very impressive! Totally different stance on the genre, how it should have been done.

Can't wait for this but will probably be playing it on my Titans :p

This. I too got sucked in about Aliens Colonial Marines, but this game looks so so better.

Just watched a few videos on this, the lighting and atmosphere looks brilliant, very on edge gameplay.

I can sense a turtles head from this game that hasn't been seen since doom3 :p

...and it's by a different developer :) Just watch some of the recent play through previews to see if it's your sort of game.

It's more of an Amnesia style horror game rather than a shooter and does sound really good. Whether they can pull it off for the length of the whole game, that remains to be seen.
