Hi,
I have a AMD Athlon 3700+san diego with retail heatsink & fan and find abit too noisy.
I don't intend in overclocking i just want something silent or at least something not as noisy.
I have read through the forums and to be honest i am getting confused with it all.
Suggestions please.

Thanks.
Thelostsoul.

Thermalright SI-120 and a Vantec Stealth fan 120mm job done ;)

I'd say go for the Thermalright as well, damn good cooler IMO. I would personally go for the Akasa Amber or 120mm Panaflo fan instead of the Vantec.

does anyone have the xp-120/si-120 fitted to an asus a8n32 sli deluxe just want to know if it fits and how much space is left

SI-120 fits on mine.

i wouldnt concider the si-120 - you can get a scythe ninja with aq fan for about £1 more than the si-120.

artic freezer pro
thermalright big typhoon
scythe ninja

Any of those are more than fine. The si-120 is very good as well, just there are cheaper options around. i got the ninja, my opteron runs at 48 full load @ 2980mhz and with the 1200rpm 120mm fan it comes with, its extremely quite:)

I must admit, I've got an XP120 with 120mm akasa ultra quiet on me S/D 3700 at 2.5ghz, and I can hardly hear it, idle temps of 27 degrees C (That is highly optimistic, I reckon nearer 32c-34c meself). I bought it before these scythe Ninja's were available though

I've got my SI-120 fitted to an Asus A8N32 but my heatpipes are facing the ram and this still gives me room to remove the ram even though 1 stick is in the first ram slot.Cooling wise my FX55 idles at 31C & loads after playing RO for a couple of hours @39-41C plus it helps keep the motherboard cool @ 30-32C after a couple of hours of gaming.
