From an Athlon 64 3000+ Venice to a 4000+ San Diego? Im sure this is a worthy upgrade, dont you think?

What about the Athlon Dual Cores? My motherboard has a 939-pin ZIF socket which is designed for Athlon 64FX or Athlon 64 processors. Will my motherboard be compatible for the dual cores???

Thanks.

I dont really want to overclock yet due to the lack of experience and knowledge :-(
I do a lot of multi-tasking and game playing so i was looking to upgrade to a dual core processor. I dont know if my motherboard is compatible though.

Yes your motherboard has it's own set of programs stored in a bios chip - you might need to re-program that chip, thats called a bios flash - the best way of doing this i find is using a program called winflash.

All you need to do is download the latest bios (instructions) for your motherboard to your hard drive - then run winflash and point winflash to where you stored the bios you downloaded - then start winflash (very important) DO NOT RESET POWER AT ANY TIME DURING THIS AS IT CAN DAMAGE YOUR MOTHERBOARD!!!!!
It will then tell you that the flash has been successful and you can reboot.

Im not held responsible whatsoever if you damage your board though - merely giving you instructions on how i do it.

How old is the board - if it's under 12 months old it should support it straight out of the box anyway.
